The birth of Johnson Home NC
I’m back!! It’s been a solid 6.5 years since I last shared here. So so so much has changed in that time. Like the world is upside down these days. It feels real heavy most days.
So here’s the long and the short of it: since my last blog post here, we have moved into our forever home #buildingonbuckhorn , built my carpenter husband’s shop (pictured just outside of it), and the same weekend we moved into our home, found out we were expecting our daughter. Our family is now complete. At my last post I was a full time librarian who had a side hustle in direct sales on the side to help fund the building of our home on my family’s farm. Nowadays I am working that side hustle full time from home while homeschooling my kids and raising up a homestead.
It’s pretty neat to be encouraged by perfect strangers on the internet to go back to blogging again. I share a lot on Instagram @johnsonhomenc but that platform changes so often with algorithms and craziness that I want a space for more. So if you’re here reading my ramblings, here are some things to know about me:
- my name is Katie
- I’m a Child of God first and foremost, a wife and mother
- the happenings of 2020 pushed me to learn more about self-sufficiency and fiercely protecting my family, even removing our children from public schooling.
- The part I love most about homesteading is the gardening and home keeping
- my goal is to create a home life we don’t feel the need to escape from, vacation away from every chance we get
- I once loved to travel but then the world fell to crap
- my hobbies include reading and learning about gardening by trial and error
- you’re likely to read something here and think “this girl has no idea” and you’re probably right. Again, I learn a lot through trial and error and plan to share that all along the way.
So, thank you for being here. I can’t promise you’ll always love what I have to share but this is my blog, my own space to share what I’m learning and how I’m growing. It’s not an airport so there’s no need to announce your departure upon leaving my space. Be blessed and keeping working towards your own self-sufficiency goals. Love Jesus more than the things of the world.
I plan to reshare a lot from Instagram here so if you come one day and there’s fifty-leven hundred posts, just know I’m mainly trying to move my content over here.
Warm hugs,
Katie
